The sound of His voice.

Have you ever woken up and found that you were not in a good place? Have you ever felt frustrated, angry, emotionally drained, and annoyed at the season you’re in? Was there some excuse that you used to avoid spending time with God and talking to Him about how you felt?

I can recall being in a similar place, too. I also remember the conversation I inadvertently had with God that gave me hope and encouragement when I found myself in that place.

Below is a transcript of our conversation. I pray it draws you closer to Him.

Me: This is such a difficult season. I wish I had someone to talk to who would understand😭.

God: You can talk to me. I’m here🙋🏽‍♂️.

Me: I need someone that can speak back to me, someone I can hear.

God: I Am speaking to you and you can hear Me because you’re responding to Me🤨.

Me: I need someone that can speak to me plainly, so I don’t have to search out the meaning😩.

God: 🤦🏽‍♀️🤨 Listen. What do you hear?

Me: It sounds like I’m having a conversation with myself, it sounds like my voice.

God: Correct. My voice sounds like yours because My Spirit lives in you. This is why the Scripture says: My sheep “know” My voice and the voice of another they will not follow (John 10:1-5). I speak to you more often than you think. You may not realize it because My voice is familiar; it’s a still, small voice that resembles yours.

Conversely, when your thoughts bring confusion, anxiety, depression, fear, worry, or sound unfamiliar, it’s the voice of the enemy. Don’t listen!

When you’re ready to talk, I’m here, I understand, and it’s My voice you’re hearing🤗

Me: I know♥️

This is what the above exchange teaches about God.

He loves and cares for you. Even when you don’t show up for your time with Him, He will come and He will meet you wherever you are.

He speaks and you know His voice. You also know the difference between His voice and the enemy’s voice.

Oftentimes, we don’t understand His instruction, but when we obey His voice, we see the positive outcome that comes from listening to Him.

If you’re struggling through a difficult time, talk to God. He is waiting to respond.

Key verses:

“After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.””

‭‭John‬ ‭10:4-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2:11-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Thank you, friend! And yes, get out of your own head and let Holy Spirit do the talking. I like what He has to say way better!

I so appreciate what you shared. My conversation with God do go like that too. Then I think “He isn’t saying that to me it’s just wishful thinking“. I’m learning to trust and be faithful that He did plant the desires in my heart and God wants me to grow in all areas so that I am successful.

Absolutely! The enemy wants to trick us into thinking it's our own thoughts and that these thoughts aren't good or trustworthy. When we do this, we dismiss the voice of the Lord and ignore the Holy Spirit.

So, lean in and listen! He is speaking to you!

Thank you for your kind words and for reading the post, Christy!
